Melville Cultural Heritage Installation (2025)
An extensive piece of place making and public realm work that draws on local expertise and community storytelling to create a heritage narrative unique to the historic and ancient Melville area of Torquay, on the South Devon coast. Celebrating the significant historic and cultural associations of the area, focussing on the great literary figures who have links to the area, and the diverse and vibrant community of the present day.

Melville
Welcome to my vision for the Melville Heritage Trail.
A perfect balance of accessible content and quality arts and heritage,
producing a trail to be proud of that really brings the area to life.

Melville Heritage Trail
Welcome to my vision for the Melville Heritage Trail.
I’m sharing imagery here to make it easier to share more widely in the community, and because I think that this really gives a good sense of what I have in mind.
There is plenty of room for collaboration with the community to provide invaluable local knowledge and expertise when it comes to:
- content and context (which pieces of history to include and why), and
- the final route (where the trail goes)
I would love to work with the community on these aspects, and I hope I can provide beautiful artwork and a theme that draws it all together for you.
Proposed trail stops are numbered for clarity, but not shown in any particular order:
