One of four artists commissioned to deliver proposals to create artwork specifically focusing on some of the regional theatres in the international Ambassador Theatre Group, reflecting the state of regional theatre after 500 days of pandemic-forced closure. The project was made possible by an award from the Arts Council Culture Recovery Fund and facilitated by Arts & Heritage. 12 selected works from the project archive are currently installed and on public display at Devon’s largest theatre, the Princess Theatre, Torquay. • ARTSTORIES, FILM DOCUMENTARY SERIES
Co-producer, in association with award-winning Director Barry Wilkinson and BWFilm, of a series of documentary short films profiling North Somerset artists. In its post-industrial rebirth, Portishead has become a haven for artists seeking to escape the city, who find inspiration in the light and unique landscape of the Severn Estuary. Find out more |
ARTPORT Community Arts Festival
Mellony Taper continues to be instrumental in the curatorial and strategic development of ArtPort a community arts festival on the Severn Estuary, near Bristol, UK. Taper serves on the managing committee, lending her skills in the capacity of strategist, curator, social media and marketing director.
ArtPort’s ethos is 3-fold:
• To create opportunities for open-access, egalitarian, community engagement with art and creativity for every part of the community, removing perceived barriers to art in traditional settings and making art truly accessible to all;
• To provide opportunities and support to the creative practitioners of Portishead, Portbury and environs of North Somerset;
• To promote and build on Portishead’s heritage and public art programme.
